Reactoonz is the latest exciting online slot game from Play’n Go. An alien invasion-themed game, the planet is under threat of some very big wins. The game’s layout is a 7×7 grid which incorporates cluster pays and Candy Crush-like cascading gameplay that sees symbols disappear when they match with those adjacent to them. The Quantum Leap is an in-game feature that is charged by landing successive winning combos. If you charge it to the max, you will summon Garaantoon, who is the leader of the aliens, and he adds extra wilds to the reels.

The Game Design of Reactoonz

The game’s visuals are colourful to say the least, so it truly is a feast for the eyes. There are 8 different alien symbols in the game, four of which are two-eyed and higher in value, and four of which are one-eyed and lower in value to players. The alien’s leader Gargantoon sits on the right hand side of the reel, keeping an eye on his underlings until he is summoned, at which stage he appears on the reels as a wild.

Gameplay in Reactoonz

In Reactoonz, if you can match a minimum of five symbols, you win. It’s that simple. With a 7×7 grid, there are many opportunities to win. With every winning spin, the alien symbols disappear, making way for new alien symbols. This is the function of the aforementioned cascading reels. If you can match four symbols in a 2×2 shape (or a square for all the geometrists reading), this forms Giantoonz. They double your win if they are included in a winning combo. Lastly, there is a random one-eyed symbol selected by the game to act as a fluctuating symbol. If it is included in a winning combo, it will explode and leave behind two wild symbols on the reels!

Reactoonz Features

Reactoonz uses the Quantum Leap mechanic to display the building up of wins as a means of winning bigger sums. If you can string together wins with a cumulative amount of 25 symbols, you will have charged the Quantum Leap, unlocking a randomly chosen feature out of a total of four. Demolition removes all one-eyed symbols from the grid. Incision adds a large wild symbol to the central cell of the grid. Implosion transforms three to six symbols into wilds, while also destroying adjacent aliens, allowing new ones to drop down. Alternation will select a one-eyed symbol at random, and any and all instances of this symbol will be replaced with a different symbol.

Our Verdict

Reactoonz is one of the first examples of a very welcome alien invasion to planet earth. The design of the game is cute and fun. Gargantoon and his fleet of aliens are not a scary prospect at all, but rather very lucrative. The game comes packed with in-game features including Demolition and the charging of the Quantum Leap game mechanic. If you can get Gargantoon to land on the reels, you’re in for a very rewarding gaming experience.
